Just a quick explanation here. I was searching everywhere for a Victorian style gingerbread house template and couldn’t find one anywhere. Well, at least anywhere that didn’t want to charge me $10 for it. It’s Christmas folks, seriously? So, I did find a printable paper house that you fold together, so I made a gingerbread template off of that.

I figured I’d throw it up here in case someone else could use it.

I’ll update with a picture of my house when it’s done.

I’ve been meaning to get this up on the blog for a long time but kept forgetting. This shopping list has been a lifesaver for me. Budgeting is just going to get tighter for us, and this was the easiest way for me to organize everything for the week ahead.

Use the left hand side to quickly plan the meals for the week. I usually do this while going through the flyers to see what meat’s on sale. I can promise you that they meals I put under each day are pretty much never actually made on that day though, lol. It’s a good starting place :)

I don’t do nearly as much freezer cooking as I’d like to, but that’s mainly because we don’t have a big freezer yet, only what came with the fridge, and most of the time it’s 90% full of ice-cream and freezies.

In anticipation of getting a big freezer though (and there have been a few times over the last two years where we were planning on going out to get one, but something always seems to come up), I made labels that would help me keep it more organized.

So, Oliver and I have been working on a bunch of things. Letters (A and O are down pat, the rest, not so much). Counting (1, 2 are good, 2, 4, 6 are good, the rest, not so good). Cutting. He really likes the cutting. So, in honor of Christmas I decided to make a little Santa Countdown. Hopefully some of you with little ones will enjoy it too. Oliver seems pretty excited so far!

It’s sized for printing on an 8½” x 11″ piece of paper, then all you’ve got to do is cut one of the strips each day until his beard is gone.

So, you might be thinking “What downloads could a cooking blog possibly post up that I would want?”.

Well, the answer is, maybe none? But maybe lots?

I go in fits and starts of trying to organize my life. Basically, when I become beyond frustrated with the amount of random spices in a drawer, or the unlabeled bags of crap in my pantry, or even just with how my grocery shopping / menu planning is working when in the stores (meaning I spend double my budget because I’m not keeping track well enough), I do something about it.
