  • Florida Bound!

Submitted by Katrina on Sat, 28/04/2012 - 9:57

    Quick update.

We’re on our way to Florida now (YAY!). Currently sitting in stunningly warm Columbia, Southern Carolina, we knocked out 15 hours in the car today (leaving at 3 am was pretty rough though). 6 and a half hours to go and we’ll be unloading at the resort before heading to T-Rex Cafe for dinner. Oliver insists (and I’ve got no complaints, but I hope Anna doesn’t mind, lol).

Alright ladies and gents, it’s finally time for that long alluded to give-away that you guys actually get (my last one was given to a neighbor, you can read here to find out why, and about the OXO Cookies for Kids Cancer charity). Anyway, today I’ve got an OXO Egg Beater for one of you! I’m lucky enough to be part of the OXO blogger outreach program, which means that they send me great products for free, one for me, and one to give away. They don’t ask me to say anything, and they don’t pay me anything.

  • Sometimes it’s just one of those days.

Today, it was really one of those days. Bo snores sometimes. Sometimes he snores a lot. Last night…last night Bo snored more than he ever has before, and I’m guessing it had something to do with the stronger sleeping pills that he took because the mild ones ran out. That fact means nothing to me though, there is no sympathy to be found here. That bugger with his sleeping pills kept me up all night. I literally only slept from 12:35 until 2:15 when Maggie woke me up to go outside.

  • A conversation about lunch, with Oliver

Submitted by Katrina on Mon, 21/11/2011 - 12:01

I had to get this written up before I forgot it. Here’s the conversation I just had with Oliver about lunch today:

me: I’m going to make you an awesome grilled cheese for lunch
    Oliver: no cheese
    me: what do you want?
    Oliver: rice
    me: I don’t have rice
    Oliver: burger
    me: I don’t have a burger
    Oliver: fries
    Me: I don’t have fries
    Oliver: what do you got
Me: pretty much just grilled cheese
    Oliver: humph

Sick days with Oliver aren’t exactly my idea of a sick day. My perfect sick day would break down like this:

  • At first…

    At first I was like:

  • City Thanksgiving

I’m going to start this picture post off with a story.

It was Thanksgiving take two and everyone was sitting around upstairs, having finished their dinner, just talking and joking. Then someone said the dreaded words: Has anyone seen Oliver?

After a solid round of “no’s” we started looking around the house. No Oliver upstairs, no Oliver downstairs (this is about the time panic starts setting in, more so then after the words “Has anyone seen Oliver”. Then Diana said “He’s outside”.

Phew, right? Well sure, of course. But that’s not the end of the story. We aren’t even at the best part yet.

  • Country Thanksgiving

Now, for those of you from the US, this is nothing like a country Thanksgiving. It’s just that my family’s thanksgiving was at my grandparents cottage, and Bo’s family’s was at his aunts in the city. So, country Thanksgiving.

It was, by far, the best weekend for Thanksgiving that we could remember. It felt like a summer day, nice and warm and sunny without any breeze, just absolutely perfect. This is especially important because it’s the day Bo and Tim have to get in the lake to take out the railways and the dock. Lucky them.

  • Lazy days are the best days.

Sometimes…ok…at least weekly, all you need is a lazy day. I don’t even know what it is with this week, but to me it feels like it has just been dragging on and on and on. Monday felt like Tuesday, Tuesday like Thursday, and Wednesday, well, I woke up thinking it should be Saturday. By the way, that is, hands down, the worst way to wake up in the morning. So, for our lazy day Oliver and I started off with some waffles. Not the fancy kind either. Today, on this lazy day, I threw in a couple of eggos.

  • Crafty afternoon

When I went out to do my butter run today I was pleasantly surprised to find a whole stack of craft supplies for $1.00 each. For anyone else in Canada this was at the Loblaws Supercenter. Googlie eyes, pipe-cleaners, pom-poms, popsicle sticks, a wooden dinosaur and dog cut-out, feathers, etc. It was a gold mine and I was a world class miner.

That last sentence goes down as my nerdiest of the day, but I promise you it’s not even close to my best ever. Don’t get me started on the difference between impossible and improbable.
