Quick update.
We’re on our way to Florida now (YAY!). Currently sitting in stunningly warm Columbia, Southern Carolina, we knocked out 15 hours in the car today (leaving at 3 am was pretty rough though). 6 and a half hours to go and we’ll be unloading at the resort before heading to T-Rex Cafe for dinner. Oliver insists (and I’ve got no complaints, but I hope Anna doesn’t mind, lol).
I just wanted to give a some quick praise to the lady at the Cracker Barrel who served us tonight. After a long day in the car both kids were being incredibly great for us during dinner tonight after the drive. Our waitress didn’t have to, but she went out of her way to make sure that the rest of their night was just as great, serving Oliver up with a literal BOWL full of maraschino cherries to go along with his frozen mug hot fudge sundae. Like, 20 of them, which I had no problem helping to devour.
On a related but unrelated note: I really love my meals at the cracker barrel. Twice a year (on the way down to Florida, and the way back home) I absolutely gorge on their chicken and dumplings (and dumplings, and carrots, and salad with honey mustard dressing, and more dumplings).
So far so good. A couple of food posts are coming while we’re away, and maybe some on cooking while on vacation (I’ve got to do a little bit it seems). First though, bed. Tomorrow, some more driving, a fun dinner, a few spins on the carousel at Disney Marketplace, and if I’m lucky… a swim after the kids go to bed.
Night all!
PS – For being so good in the car all day Oliver wound up with a giant Triceratops head full of toy dinosaurs, and Anna picked a pink sock monkey. I say Anna picked it because Bo showed it to her, and she reached out, grabbed it, and gave it a kiss. We melted.
