Just a quick explanation here. I was searching everywhere for a Victorian style gingerbread house template and couldn’t find one anywhere. Well, at least anywhere that didn’t want to charge me $10 for it. It’s Christmas folks, seriously? So, I did find a printable paper house that you fold together, so I made a gingerbread template off of that.
I figured I’d throw it up here in case someone else could use it.
I’ll update with a picture of my house when it’s done.
NOTE: There is a page full of shutters, but really, just cut each window (that you cut out of the walls before baking) in half and you’ve got your shutters.
I finally added pictures! Here’s our finished house, after a very loooong night of decorating, and a very tired Oliver who was a massive help. Can’t wait to do it again this year!
The snow on the roof is just coconut. For the windows, I melted down sugar (with a bit of vanilla in it for flavour), then poured it into the empty windows and let cool and harden. I forgot to make a hole in the front though so that the entry windows would light up too.

Thank you for this template! I will be making this house this year. Was in the same boat as you. I didn’t want to spend $10 for a gingerbread house pattern, but didn’t want a boring house. Never thought of looking for paper house patterns. That’s my mom brain. Haha! Thanks again!

Hey Mandy,
Have fun! It was a bit of work, but Oliver and I had so much fun with it! I think I’m going to give one a try again this year (I was way to tired last year with a baby on the way), so hopefully I’ll have another template. I want to see pictures when you’re done!

I read this paragraph completely concerning the resemblance of most up-to-date
and earlier technologies, it’s amazing article.

Hi!
Thanks for posting your pattern. I’m excited to try this with my girls this weekend. Can you tell me thickness of your gingerbread? I’ve seen instructions for smaller houses and they recommend rolling out to 1/4 inch. Is that sturdy enough for this larger house? Merry Christmas!
Katrina
I’m sorry I didn’t see this sooner – I think I rolled mine closer to 1/2” thick, but you would probably be find somewhere in the middle. That was the first time I’d ever tried something like this – it was a lot of “hoping for the best” 😂
The template will work great, but if you’ve found instructions on the dough from other sites with more experience, trust those (and feel free to share links to the websites you used in the comments here – it might help someone else down the road!).
