Just before we left for vacation I got an email from the people at Santa Sent Me A Letter asking if I’d like to try it out. Every Christmas I send the kids letter to Santa for them, and the incredible Canada Post Elves diligently send them one back. But those elves, they are writing back to a lot of kids, so it’s nothing personal, or all that special to hold on to (though still a wonderful program).
Me though, I’d been looking for something a bit more touching and magical (tis the season and all), so what these folks were offering was right up my alley.
What was waiting for my kids in the mailbox on Sunday when we got back was exactly the kind of thing I had hoped for. The kids were ecstatic, bouncing off the walls when they saw the cool, old-looking envelope with their names on it. The wax seal on the back sent them over the edge (it’s the kind of thing they’d only seen, perfectly fittingly, in their lift the flap “Twas The Night Before Christmas” storybook).
While I was unpacking, Bo carefully opened it up and read it to Oliver and Anna, who sat stunned, amazed that Santa knew everything going on in their lives, from Oliver’s new teacher’s name, to Sophie getting ready for her first Christmas. It brought the joy of the season to the forefront, and the kids have been asking to see it every day since. It’s also been helpful, sitting in the kitchen as it is, as a reminder that they need to be good because Santa’s always watching.
For the letter we received (Original Letter from Santa), it’s only $9.95, and shipping is free to the USA and Canada, which I think is more than reasonable for what you’re getting. You walk through a few very simple steps that let you choose the best letter for your family (lots of topics, both non-religious and religious). Then, you get to customize each paragraph to your kids so that it fits perfectly. There are a few other packages with little add-ons, like a nice list ID card, or Santa’s magic key, the choice is up to you.
I really was thrilled with the quality of it. The paper is nice and thick, the pattern looked totally authentic to the kids (Oliver is one to inspect and question everything). It seemed like no little detail had been forgotten.
For a very limited time, I’ve got an early bird code for you all. You’ll save 15% off your order, but it’s only good until December 1, 2014 (through this coming Sunday). Go to Santa Sent Me A Letter and just enter SANTA749 at checkout.
Here’s to the start of a fantastic and magical holiday season!
