Woo hoo! It’s December 1st again (seriously, how did that happen so fast), AND it’s Friday – that means FREEBIE FRIDAY, and today I’ve got a cute Santa Beard Countdown for you. It also means Christmas is officially right around the corner. How are all of you doing with your Christmas shopping? I’m a little more frazzled this year than usual. There’s a few things I’ve got left to pick up, but there is ONE THING that is making me lose sleep at night. Seriously, I am DREAMING about lining up at malls at 6am, then waking up in a cold sweat when they don’t get the size in that I need. This has never happened to me before. I’m usually the Mom who has everything bought and wrapped mid November…
How to drive your kids crazy at Christmas
Which makes me want to tell you about my FAVOURITE thing to do to the kids: keep their wrapped presents in plain sight. I’m evil. I am a terrible, evil, mean Mother – AND I LOVE DOING THIS!!! I keep all the kids presents wrapped up in our bedroom, out for them to look at for at least a month before they get to open them.
How to stop a Christmas Tantrum in its tracks
Wanna know what else I did once? One of the three was being so bad. Like SO BAD. It was nothing but tantrums over everything for weeks, and I kept threatening to take a gift back – so I bought the one thing they really wanted twice. Wrapped it up, then made them unwrap it and return it to the store. See – Evil. But Smart Evil. They were supper good after that, and extra appreciative when they found it still under the tree.
Santa Beard Countdown
A couple years ago I decided to make a cute little advent calendar for the kids to do.
This is one of my kids favourites to do, in fact they actually reminded me to print it out. I think they just get excited about anything involving glue. I’ve also got a beard cutting countdown if you’re working on those scissor skills.
Each day, have the kids glue a cotton ball onto Santa’s beard. On Christmas Eve it’ll be completely filled in. I would say that this is a great alternative to the chocolate advent calendars, but who am I kidding. In this house it isn’t Christmas without those. This is just a fun thing for the kids to do, and another way to hopefully get them to stop asking “How many more days until Santa comes?!?!?!”.
Just click on the picture and the pdf image will open in a new window for you. It prints out a full 8½” x 11″ page.
